Terms of use
Last updated: 11 October 2026
These terms govern the use of the MyBenchBook and MyWB apps (the "apps") and the related services, offered by Sebastiano Solito, Mesagne (BR), Italy, under the name MyBenchSpace ("we"). By using the apps you accept these terms. How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
1. The apps and your account
- You can use the apps as a guest, without an account, with some limits. A single account works in both MyBenchBook and MyWB.
- To create an account you must be at least 18 years old and provide truthful information. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for what happens with your account; tell us right away if you think someone is using it without permission.
- You can stop using the apps and delete your account at any time (see Delete your account).
2. Plans, subscriptions and AI credits
- The apps offer free use and paid plans with more features. The features, limits and prices of each plan are shown in the app before purchase.
- Subscriptions bought in the app are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their conditions: payment, automatic renewal, cancellation and refunds go through them. You can cancel at any time from the store settings; the subscription stays active until the end of the period already paid. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.
- MyBenchBook's AI features use monthly credits included in your plan. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month, have no cash value and are not refundable. If an AI request fails, its credits are returned.
- We may change the features, limits or prices of the plans for the future. Changes to a running subscription apply from the next renewal and we will tell you beforehand; if you don't accept them you can cancel.
- The rights that the law grants to consumers are not affected, including the right of withdrawal where applicable.
3. Your content
- What you write and attach in the apps (text, photos, PDFs, experiment data) remains yours. You only give us permission to store, sync and process it as far as needed to make the apps work for you, for example when you turn on sync or ask the AI to process something.
- You are responsible for having the right to use the content you add. Research data may belong to your institution or be confidential: follow your lab's rules before syncing it or sending it to the AI.
- The apps are designed to work on your device: keep backups of important data (for example by exporting to PDF or Word, or with device backups). Cloud sync helps, but it does not replace a backup.
4. Calculations, AI and scientific responsibility
The apps are tools that support lab work. Volumes, dilutions, amounts of DNA and reagents, dictation transcripts and text or pages produced by the AI may contain errors and must always be checked by you before using them in an experiment.
- The apps are not validated for regulated use (for example GLP, GMP, diagnostics or clinical studies), are not medical devices and must not be used for decisions about people or patients.
- The AI can misread handwriting or the meaning of a text: uncertain parts are highlighted, but the final check is always yours.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the apps for unlawful activities, to upload content that infringes the rights of others, to get around plan limits or security systems, to send automated bulk requests to our services, or to disrupt their operation. You may not copy, modify or decompile the apps, except as expressly allowed by law.
6. Intellectual property
The apps, their code, the MyBenchSpace brand, the names MyBenchBook and MyWB, the mascot and the illustrations belong to Sebastiano Solito. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the apps on your devices under these terms. The apps include open-source components distributed under their own licences, listed in the apps.
For apps downloaded from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies; these terms supplement it. Apple is not responsible for the apps or their support.
7. Availability of the service
We do our best to keep the apps and online services working, but we cannot guarantee they will be free of interruptions or errors. We may update the apps, change or remove features, or temporarily suspend online services for maintenance or security. If we ever had to shut down a paid service, we would give you reasonable notice and you could export your data.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, loss of data, experimental results or working time arising from the use of the apps, in particular if caused by calculations or text that were not checked. These limitations do not apply in case of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, and do not limit the rights that the law always grants to consumers.
9. Suspension of accounts
We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms or puts the security of the services at risk, informing you whenever possible and explaining why.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version is published here with the date of the update; if the changes are significant we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don't accept them, you can stop using the apps and delete your account.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction, and the consumer protection rules of the country where you live continue to apply.
